Dragonfly Tattoos - A Truly Unique Tattoo Design

With the rise in popularity of tattoos in modern times, it seems that everyone is out there trying to decide what is the best image to adorn themselves with and show off to the world! Some people prefer stars or crosses, others Celtic tattoos, and still others like Tribal tattoos. There seems to be no limit to the number of different styles available!

If you are looking for a unique tattoo idea, you should consider getting a dragonfly tattoo. These beautiful, intricate insects are being inked more and more commonly these days, but are still somewhat rarer than most. Chances are that your family & friends will be truly amazed if you choose to get this type of tattoo!

So, why get a dragonfly inked? Whether it is your first tattoo or just getting a new tattoo, here are some great reasons to consider this particular tattoo design

1. Impact - these designs are intricate and require a skilled artist to transfer correctly. They look awesome on your skin!

2. Wearability - these tattoos can be worn just about anywhere on your body. Some of the best locations are on the forearm or upper shoulder, looking as if they have just alighted for a well-deserved break from a busy morning of buzzing around!

3. Meaning - dragonfly tattoos represent many different things. Most importantly they represent change, as (like butterflies) they transform from an ugly little worm into a beautiful creature. Unlike butterflies though, they also represent agility and speed, as well as freedom with their ability to effortlessly fly where & when they like! They are also a universal symbol of good luck in the world of body art.

4. Unisex Appeal - these unique tattoo designs can be worn equally proudly by both men & women, whereas butterflies and other insects have mostly female appeal (with the exception, of course, of Pappillion!). Dragonflies are both fragile & strong at once, and can send a vast array of messages about the person who displays them!

5. Rarity - although becoming more common, dragonfly tattoos are rarer than most other insect types and will be a great point of interest & discussion for the people you meet. An extremely good ice-breaker at parties!

If you need any further convincing, just go outside on a bright sunny day and try to spot a dragonfly. You will be enchanted by their fragility, amazed at their agility, and marvel at their ability to seemingly be everywhere at once. Imagine capturing all of that in an awesome dragonfly tattoo design!

As mentioned, patience & skill is required to apply this tattoo, so be prepared to invest some serious time when you make your final choice.

Panther Tattoo Designs - A Unique and Mesmerizing Style

What It Signifies?

Panther is a symbol of beauty with elegance and class. Coming from the cat family, these animals are found to be closely linked to the puma, jaguar and even a leopard. Club this with the fact that they are fearsome and savage creatures; they have invoked the fancy of the world for their serenity and leadership traits. Its subtle beauty, yet fierce nature are the two contrasting features which the artists have tried to capture and portray by these amazing and unique panther tattoo designs.

These designs have takers all over the world, be it men or women. The animals' cardinal quality of ferociousness clubbed with its aesthetics and splendor has attracted many a beholder and tattoo aspirant alike. Add to this, the panthers with their luscious, shiny black fur, collectively known as black panthers, and you have that unique appeal for mesmerizing many.

Beholders Have Their Own Reason

One of the cardinal reasons that men are attracted to this form of tattooing is the very nature of a black panthers' ferocious instinct. There is a certain savageness that men link with their masculinity, thereby making it a prized possession and a useful medium to get across to the women, a forewarning of their inherent trait.

Women are also significant takers of the tattoo. Though beauty is a basic reason, the mystery and primal factor pervades, often compelling them to show off shades of their wild self. A woman sporting a panther tattoo wants to flaunt this streak in her, which men are today hankering after.

Tattooing It Right

While panthers exude a character of their own, the different poses of the tattoo can still convey myriad shades of the person. A black panther is in a class of its own, when compared to its yellow counterpart. A panther in a resting pose reflects the calm but alert nature of the tattoo owner, while a picture of an attacking pose signifies a trait of brutality in the wearer of panther tattoo designs. A running pose shows its active nature, while just the face of the animal can be equally charming and thought-provoking. Also its thick tattooing process helps in covering up the previous tattoos, thereby avoiding all hassles of running two tattoos in your favorite spot.

Receiving The Honors

Looking at the composure of a panther, which has naturally glimmering black shiny furs, panther tattoo designs are ideal for beautiful curves running along the human body. As per popular practice, panther tattoo designs are mostly worn on the wrists, shoulders and back. In addition to this, it looks authentic and appealing, when the space covered by this type of tattoo runs over a larger area, rather than a small patch, which masks the whole process.

Though it is only takes a little while for the panther tattooing procedure to be done, the final call and adjustments are taken by the person who is going to be the proud owner of the tattoo. He/she needs to convince themselves on its vital positioning. This has been the reason why glimpses of such tattoos have been visible in other prominent parts of the human physique like the neck, back, thigh, ankle, etc. Just a few lines of caution though; make sure that the fruits of your efforts are visible to every naked eye.

Animal Tattoos

Tattoos can be of different designs. They can be a representation of anything in this world and also can be abstract. There are feminine tattoos such as flowers, butterflies, angels and manly tattoos such as dragons, skulls and animals. Animal tattoos are quite common. Many people make a tattoo of their favorite animal on their bodies. It is important to know first what the animal symbolizes, because a tattoo is a permanent thing. If you get a tattoo done and you don't like it, you will regret forever.

A wolf tattoo
A greatly popular animal tattoo is that of the wolf. For some cultures the wolf is a very negative symbol but in some the wolf stands out to be a positive symbol. It is the culture of the Native Americans to respect the wolf and treat the wolf as a positive being. The tattoo of a wolf may be used to represent the personality of a person who likes to stay alone and does not care about what other people think about him. But it will not be right to think that all wolves are like that; some wolves do socialize and move in packs.

A tiger tattoo
A tattoo of a tiger symbolizes royalty. Though the lion is considered the king of the jungle, many think that the tiger is no less. Some even think that if a battle occurs between a tiger and a lion, the tiger will win because of its agility. Thus a tiger represents power, strength, fearlessness and dominance.

A horse tattoo
The horse is a symbol of intelligence. The meaning of a horse tattoo changes if the color is changed. A dark horse represents rebellious nature, whereas a white horse represents purity. Generally women sport white horse tattoos. They sometimes add wings and horns to the white horse and turn them into a unicorn tattoo.

A dog tattoo
Dogs are the most faithful creatures of the world. They are loved by human beings. So we often find the tattoo of a dog on the arm of a man representing the dog he once loved but which is not alive anymore. This type of tattoo is seen mostly on firemen and police men who lost their German Shepards and Dalmatians on call duty.

A phoenix tattoo
The Native Americans call this bird 'thunder bird'. This bird rose from the ashes to victory, so many people tattoo this bird on their skins in order to symbolize their own victory. Phoenix also symbolizes rebirth.

An eagle tattoo
As eagle is the national bird of America it is a common tattoo subject for Americans. It mainly represents freedom, but it also represents Zeus or the sun.

Greek Tattoo Designs - Finding the Right One For Your Personality

Are you in the process of considering getting a tattoo but are not sure where to start especially when it comes to Greek tattoo designs? Well you could, if you wanted, visit several different tattoo parlors to see what they have to offer. But the best way to look for what you really want and which you feel most comfortable wearing is online.

However, it is also a good idea to learn more about the various types of Greek tattoo designs that are now available that you can then have tattooed onto your body if you wish. Below we take a look at just some of these.

Key Pattern - This particular design is proving popular because of it being one of the most simple. In ancient Roman and Greek times the key pattern that is incorporated into tattoos was originally used as a border on walls or floors in homes. You can either use this design on its own but to make it something a little different can be used in conjunction with Celtic tattoo designs that are available.

Words and Phrases - The symbols which make up the Greek alphabet are also proving extremely popular with people looking for Greek tattoo designs to have inked on their bodies. Not only are these very stylish but they look extremely elegant as well. The kinds of symbols that are proving most popular with people today are the ones that the fraternities and sororities at universities and colleges use such as Beta, Alpha, Gamma and Delta along with Phi and Sigma.

Don't limit yourself to using these to create words, but incorporate them with other symbols such as dragons or geckos. With this particular design the tattoo can be inked around the wrist or ankle.

Gods and Goddesses - With so many different Greek gods and goddesses to choose from you will find yourself spoiled for choice if you select any of these particular Greek tattoo designs. So in order to find one that actually fits in with the kind of person you are then don't be afraid to do a little research. This way you can learn more about the god or goddesses character and see if they have any particular traits that relate to the kind of person that you are. For those of you who are fun loving you may opt for Apollo but if you want yours to show your more romantic side then you may prefer to choose Aphrodite.

Tattoo Ideas - Secret Sexy Tattoos For Couples

Looking for sexy tattoo ideas for you and your significant other? Sharing a secret, sexy tattoo that is just between you and another person can be very personal and meaningful. Here are some ideas for sexy tattoos that are meant just for couples.

First there is the tattoo itself. What the tattoo says, what it means, the design and feelings behind it are all something to think about. That is very important for couples. But there is also the act of getting the tattoo done as a couple. That can be just as significant.

Make sure for the meaning to be heightened in its importance that the two of you get your tattoos done together, at the same time.

They say it is the journey not just the destination that is the prize. Think about this as a couple considering a sexy tattoo, that is meant for just you two. Spend time together talking about what is important in your relationship, where you want the relationship to go, even where the relationship has been. Consider your special and private feelings for each other. These should all be factors in your decision about what kind of tattoo to get together.

Also, you should discuss where you want the tattoos placed on the body. You will want to think of locations that are intimate and personal. This is a tattoo that if it is to be kept secret should not be visible to others or at best only during most intimate times.

A secret, sexy tattoo should also be small so it is easier to conceal. Larger tattoos will be too obvious and would defeat the intended purpose.

Should you go for words or art work? Either would work. A lot will depend on what is most significant between the two of you and your relationship. Be sure to talk about this as well.

Here is an important word of caution. No matter how solid the relationship, the one thing constant in life is change. And relationships can change and they quite often do. The way you two feel about each other may remain strong forever and if that is the case that is wonderful. But if things change and you no longer remain together, you have to consider that is a possibility in the future.

For this reason it is advised that you do not use each other's name as one of your secret, sexy tattoo ideas. Because a tattoo is permanent, it would not be pleasant to spend the rest of your life having to wear a personal tattoo bearing the name of someone that you no longer have close, intimate feelings for.

Ankh Tattoo

I am a big fan of body art, in particular tattoos. I spend a great deal of time researching tattoo designs before committing my skin to permanent ink. Something I have always been fascinated with is Egyptian symbols and hieroglyphics. I recently had a graphic designer create an Ankh tattoo design for myself.

The ankh or ankh cross is probably the the best known of all Egyptian symbols. I love its simplistic design and how it combines a loop and cross piece. No one knows for certain the origin of the ankh symbol and its meaning has several interpretations. The general belief is that the ankh is a symbol of all life, both divine and human. I think this makes it a great tattoo choice.

Two elements that Egyptians believed were essential for life were the air and the sun. One theory is that the design of the ankh represents a sun rise. The loop representing the Sun rising above the horizon. The crossbar being the horizon and the vertical section below the crossbar being the path of the sun.

Another theory is that the top loop represents the vagina, and the cross piece and vertical section symbolizing the penis and testicles. Together, as sexual organs, they present and symbolize the moment of when man and woman come together for the creation of life which is perhaps the greatest and most mysterious miracle known to man.

I like my tattoos to be simplistic, meaningful and well designed. I don't like flashy tattoos that have little or no meaning. If you are interested in getting a elegant and meaningful tattoo I recommend you do a little research on Egyptian mythology. If the ankh doesn't take your fancy you could take a look at the Eye of Horus. I am having a design made for that as well.

Sleeve Tattoos - Why Sleeve Tattoo Designs Are So Great

Sleeve tattoos have become immensely popular among both male and female tattoo enthusiasts. The term 'sleeve tattoo' refers to a tattoo design that runs a significant length down the arm. The majority of sleeve tattoos cover either half of the arm or the whole arm. Half sleeve designs generally cover the skin between the elbow and upper arm, or between the elbow and wrist. Ultimately though, the area that a sleeve design covers is completely up to the individual.

In addition to being incredibly flexible in terms of size and positioning on the arm, sleeve tattoos can also be extended to other body areas. For example, some people ink incredibly striking designs that extend right up to the top of the shoulder, and then down the shoulder blade and back, or down the chest. While some people plan such large designs in advance, many people start with a smaller design, such as a half sleeve tattoos, and then keep adding to the original design over time.

Tribal and Celtic design styles tend to be the most popular options for sleeve tattoos. Both of these design styles tend to be composed of bold patterns and iconography, usually inked in black. Such designs tend to be fairly easy to extend, which explains why many people end up with such elaborate Tribal and Celtic tattoos, often incorporating a full sleeve design into a larger design.

Sleeve tattoos are a great choice for people who work for an employer with a no tattoo policy due to the ease with which they can be hidden. Wearing a long sleeve sweater or shirt will completely cover a design inked on the arm. Away from work, sleeve designs can be shown off to the world by wearing short sleeve t-shirts, vests, or by not wearing a shirt at all. For people like to show off their ink at the gym, or during the summer months, sleeve tattoos provide an excellent option.

In summary, sleeve tattoos are incredibly striking and provide tattoo enthusiasts with enormous flexibility in terms of size, positioning and the possibility of future extension. If you are strongly considering getting a tattoo, I recommend taking your time choosing a design that you really love, and that really has some significance to you and your life. Take the time to browse through as much high quality tattoo art as possible in order to build up a selection of designs that you really love. It is upsetting to think that so many people end up regretting their tattoos because they did not take the time to plan properly.

Uses For Airbrush Tattoo Kits

Admit it. There's at least one instance in your life when you considered having a permanent tattoo. But fortunately, common sense took over because you didn't really want one in the first place. You just want the experience of having skin art but you don't really want to be inked for life. So you just look at tattooed people enviously.

But with airbrush tattoo kits, you don't have to do that anymore. You can express yourself easily with skin art but you don't risk regretting it down the line. Some people are not built for temporary tattoos because they'll just easily get bored with the tattoo. So they'll be stuck with something that they're sick of for the rest of their lives.

Skin art is all about expressing yourself. You use your skin as an avenue of self-expression. But unlike those who get permanent tattoos, you don't have what it takes. Usually, you don't have their tolerance for needles. So why not express yourself using painless means? It's also a bonus that with temporary tattoos, you don't have to stick to a design for the rest of your life.

Are you going to spend a day at the beach? Why not spray on a big tattoo on your arm? You can also do the same for the holidays and different celebrations. Let's say that you're going to attend a big game with your family. Why not show your school spirit with an awesome airbrush tattoo? Show up at the game with your whole family wearing them. You can also do the same for your kid's birthday. Set up a booth and apply temporary airbrush tattoos to kids. They'll have loads of fun with it.

As you can probably see now, you can use airbrush tattoo kits for yourself or for other people. Sure, it gives you a good tool in order to express yourself with skin art. But why not make your investment more efficient by making money out of it? For example, you can show up at the game early and charge for the airbrush tattoos. You'll make a killing in just a single game. You can also do the same during fairs, parties and the likes. It's also a good way for you to help raise team spirit.

You will have a lot of uses for it. This makes it a good investment. It's for kids and adults alike so you can be sure that a lot of people will appreciate it. So it doesn't matter if you're just looking to express yourself or you want to make money out of it.

Tattoo Chemical Peels

There has been a veritable explosion of interest in chemical peeling for the removal of tattoos in the last 20 years. Before the advent of resurfacing lasers, people would frequently use some of the stronger chemical peels to try to erase tattoos as well as deeper lines and wrinkles. When carried out by experts the results of some of these strong peels could be excellent. However, there was a real risk that the deeper the peel, the more white skin discoloration would occur, often leading too patchy and irregular results, and in some cases white and red scarring.

Now, however, in the current peel revolution, we have the benefit of peels that has a much more superficial effect. To achieve the optimum results, they are typically repeated up to three to four times.

What is chemical peeling?

Chemical peeling involves the application to the skin of a chemical that causes a shedding of the surface skin layers. By shedding these layers, a new skin layer is formed which is both healthier and less mottled. As well as prompting the process of regrowth, the chemical also tricks the dermis (the skin's supporting structure) into producing new collagen under the skin.

There are several types of superficial (surface) chemical peel (in order of most superficial to deepest):

Lactic acid peels
Glycolic acid peels
Beta-hydroxy acid peels
Jessner's peels
Combinations of the above peels

Lactic acid is one of the alpha-hydroxy acid peels obtained originally frm milk and dairy products. Lactic acid peels are extremely valuable for people with very sensitive skin. They are usually well tolerated and will lead to less peeling and skin shredding than glycolic and beta peels. Lactic acid could be considered an 'entry level' peel.

It is useful to touch on TCA peels (trichloroacetic acid) and how they compare to surface peels. A lower strength TCA, for example 10 - 25 percent, could actually be used as a superficial peel, whereas a strength of 35 percent will constitute a medium to deeper peel. These deeper peels are still used by some dermatologists, but many have moved over to laser resurfacing because of its potential for controlling depth. TCA is one of the most common acids in a number of tattoo removal products, and can be used on its own as a treatment.

There are however, various qualities of the acid to consider including whether or not the TCA is simply a commercial grade or is in a more pure 'medical' grade. The better the quality of the product, naturally the higher the price so make sure that you are selecting a product that will be effective rather than one that will simply save you money.

The acids named above, apart from the Jessner peel, are typically ineffective at removing tattoo ink, they simply do not penetrate the skin's surface deeply enough. They are safe, glycolic acid is actually derived from sugar cane and is non-toxic, but will not be effective for your needs since they will only loosen the dead surface skin cells to reveal brighter, smoother, younger-looking skin beneath.

Beta-hydroxy acid peels come in varying concentrations of salicylic acid (related to the chemical in aspirin) in a peel. They are similar to the glycolic acid peels in most ways, the main difference being that these are slightly stronger and may cause more redness and surface peeling. However, these are not used with as much effectiveness as TCA peels, they simply are not strong enough to penetrate to the necessary levels to get at the tattoo pigment. I hope this article sheds some light on the various peels that are out there and will help you have a more informed decision when contemplating using one of these methods to remove your unwanted ink.

Cross Tattoos - Christian, Celtic, Tribal, and More Cross Tattoo Designs

Cross tattoo has been around for years and has never lost its appeal even up to the present day. The reason being is its universal meaning plus the powerful significance it can convey. It generally is a representation of one's spiritual beliefs and faith.

Aside from being a religious symbol, it is also use as in loving memory tattoo, also known as RIP tattoo. Sometimes, symbols like heart, banner and flowers are combined along with the name of the dead person and the death date. The cross is tattooed as a memory of a loved one who passed away as if serving as a gravestone on one's body.

This type of body art comes in many forms. It was a favorite among the old school type of tattoos patronized by bikers, seaman and merchants. It can be seen combined with other elements such as skull, star, flames, dagger, rose, heart and banner.

Celtic cross is another popular cross tat design which is a representation of Irish, Scottish or Welsh heritage. It is easily identifiable as it is interwoven with Celtic knot which is a symbol of the never ending cycle of life. Some tat enthusiasts also choose to incorporate tribal art into their tattoo design while some choose the Gothic style of cross tat.

The Christian cross tattoo is the most popular form that is meant to symbolize one's faith in God. It can be in the form of Latin cross (simple cross) or in the form of crucifix bearing Christ's image while he was being crucified. It can also be combined with other religious images such as the angel, the rosary, image of Mary and Jesus Christ.

The symbol of cross as a tat image is usually inked small, perhaps to retain the sincerity of their symbolism. It is usually seen on small parts of the body such as the ankle, foot, wrist, upper back and arm. Cross tattoo, with its wide appeal and holy implications will always remain as a tat image that will be around for more years to come.

Reflect Your Bondage Through Barbed Wire Tattoos

Get Imprisoned With Your Tattoo

Tattoos are very famous these days and the designs reflect the individuality of a person through different designs and colors. Tattoo foreshadows the particular trait of a human being; it brings his inside to the outside world. As we know, tattoos are permanent and will remain on your skin for your lifetime until you get them removed through surgery.

Therefore, one should choose a tattoo very carefully. Tattoos are not just simple designs placed anywhere on the body, but they are a medium to communicate your personal views and give a universal message about it. One of the most popular designs is barbed wire tattoos, which symbolize your personality and show it to the world at large.

Nowadays, the significance of the barbed wire tattoos is to show your inner being enchanted by bonds and chains but earlier in actual history, they were fancied as coded messages by the Russians for the identification of a criminal and the sentence meted out to him. Basically barbed wire tattoos project a symbol of confinement.

Getting It Done On The Right Place

The main task in getting a tattoo done is the selection of the body part where you want to get it implanted. Barbed wire tattoos can be made anywhere, but they look best around the circular parts of the body. You can use it around the neck, around your leg or ankles or as a waist band tattoo or on the back, as it gives you enough space to place your design the way you wish to. Where ever it is used, it is supposed to give a strong message of bonding, within or without.

Perfect Location For Barbed Wire Tattoos

The best option for a barbed wire tattoo is to get it done on your wrist. Many commercial offices do not allow tattoos to be seen during the working hours, which eliminate the wrists as a favorite spot, especially as it may work negatively against your career.

You will agree that it is hardly worth risking the security of your job by being fastidious on the location of the tattoo. However, you can get it done somewhere on the ankle or on the back which is interesting. If one does not need to hide the tattoo, then he can get it done around the neck as well, which will resemble a permanent necklace.

Merge The Different Symbols

One can also experiment with the design, combining it with some other designs or slogans. You can choose a combination of a barbed wire tattoo with cow skull or horse tattoo giving you a cowboy look. Bikers can go for these tattoos along with flames and fire. They can also be mingled with a heart, rose or dragon. There are unlimited options of combining a barbed wire tattoo with different designs; one can use his/her own imagination to make it look good and prettier.

The tattoo artists working for the barbed wire tattoo portal toil around the clock to produce new designs that replace the old ones without a long shelf shelf life. Tattoo designs have no boundaries, the wilder the more attractive it becomes. So, feel free to fancy the designs and just go for it.

White Tattoos - A Unique Touch

Tattoos are something that makes you stand out. However, if you want to go for something that is even more unique than the regular black and gray, as well as colored tattoos, white tattoo is just the thing for you. They are of two types - the one made from simple white ink and the other created from black light ink.

The black light ink has come to become a part of the tattoo supplies of the modern tattoo artist very recently - say about three decades back. The black light tattoo ink is sometimes believed to have harmful effect on the human body - it is believed to be radioactive. However, whether the black light ink is safe or unsafe for use has to be conclusively determined as yet.

White tattoo with white ink

The white tattoo with white ink is made simply with the help of white ink and is slightly visible under sunlight. These tattoos can be extremely beautiful in a very delicate way. If you want to go for a completely white tattoo, a delicate dove on your inner wrist can look extremely beautiful.

You can achieve a number of styles with the help of white ink tattoos. Now let us look at the white tattoo ink. Some of the white tattoo inks are sold opaque, to be used alone, while others are mixed with colored inks to get a different shade.

Many artists mainly like to use white tattoos for small areas, to highlight a design and to give it character. For instance, the eye can be highlighted with the white ink, or the edges of a red rose can be made to look more realistic when white ink is used. These are used as reflection points in tattoos of elements that are meant to be reflective.

Unfortunately, most white tattoos fade out after a year or a bit more, especially if it is exposed to the sunlight a lot. However, there are some brands that create great colors that last. Some of the popular manufacturers are moms ink and Intenze ink.

Intenze tattoo ink has a great opaque quality that hold up great, for a pretty long time. The white Intenze ink is different because it uses a finely ground acrylic polymer. This is something that is used in car and house paints. Though there are some adverse discussions regarding the effect of this tattoo on the skin, there have not been many complaints regarding this issue from people who have used white Intenze tattoo ink in their tattoo.

White tattoo with black light tattoo ink

There are a number of types of tattoo inks in the market. The black light tattoo ink is usually a microencapsulated type of ink where all the molecules are encapsulated in very tiny clear, flexible containers like a gel cap pill. Since the ink is encapsulated it does not come into contact with the skin.

Though the black light tattoo ink is usually thin, it should not be used with other tattoo inks as this will take away the UV property of the ink. Like the white ink tattoo, the tattoo made from black light tattoo ink will appear a bright pink for a few days (due to the ski irritation from the tattoo gun). However, once the tattoo heals, the black light tattoo ink will be come invisible and can be seen only under dark light. This kind of tattoo can be fun in rave parties and at the same time, they can be quite personal.

Finally, remember that tattoos are meant to express who you are. So if bold colors and bright tattoos are not your style, white tattoos can be a great idea.

Egyptian Tattoos and Meanings

Well I have just found out some interesting information about Egyptian tattoos and their meanings and am passing it on to you so I hope that it can be helpful.

Lets start with a common tattoo which is the sun and to the Egyptians this was one of the most powerful images and symbols to them. The reason being is because the Egyptians whole culture and economy depended on the Nile and their crops growing with the seasons. If there was no sun to provide these seasons and light to help crops grow then there would be no Egypt. The meaning behind the tattoo of the sun is the rays are providing protection and growth for the country, so if you have a tattoo with the Egyptian sun be sure that what is beneath the rays is something that you want to protect and help grow.

The next common Egyptian tattoo is that of the god Anubis who is the body of a man and the head of a jackal. He very popular with current tattoo designs and simply because he looks cool, but there is a darker and heavier side to him. He was the god of the embalming process and he would weight the souls of the dead to see if they could pass onto the afterlife. He holds great power however he does not make the rules so this is something to understand if you want to use him on a design.

Finally we will look at the "eye of horus" which I personally feel is the most common Egyptian image being worn and tattooed. The eye represents immense power and it overseas Egypt while Horus protects the country. The USA use it on their dollar bill and it is portrayed in many other places also. The myth goes that Horus lost his eye in battle and then it was magically restored and and put back together to become the powerful symbol it is today.

Temporary Tattoos Vs Permanent Ink - Why Bother?

If you have been to the local tattoo parlor and have seen hundreds of designs but have not yet decided yet on what to have, there is a good chance you will regret getting a tattoo in the end. The decision to have a permanent tattoo should NOT be taken lightly, nor instantaneously, and should not be taken spontaneously either! (How's that for $.25 words, as we say down South.) You have to have an idea really well thought about before plunging in and just getting any random tattoo design that will tickle your fancy. As time goes by you might see a lot of new designs and will constantly ask yourself why did you choose just any design when you could have tried getting temporary tattoos first rather than having a permanent one.

Temporary tattoos give you more choices and the freedom to remove it anytime when there comes a time that you actually get tired of it. The tattoos are very cheap and you can have one every time the old fades out or vanishes, and the best part of it is you will never have any pain, and I mean that. The tattoo may fade out in a span of many days but you can just buy the same design and put it right back where you want it done and nobody will ever know the difference.

Now, don't get me wrong, I am not in any way discriminating against permanent tattoos at all. It's just better to be more secure with your decision and that is why I mention an option that is just as good but may not last that long unlike those tats that are inked actually under your skin. If you are worrying that you might be made fun of by your friends if you just have temporary tattoos, then the reason you want to get one may not be valid. And do not tell me I didn't warn you when you add a few (ha!) more dollars getting it removed or replaced after a few years.

You may also like to ask yourself if you are ready for the physical, emotional and mental pain. The pain isn't to be taken lightly, either, especially on those areas that has a prominent bone. That's part of what makes tattooing so special is that it takes actual sacrifice to achieve the beauty afterwards.

One final point - Amazon.com has a TON of temporary tattoos at extremely moderate prices. Just the other day, I bought about fifteen different booklets at only $1.50 (US) each with everything from glow in the dark tattoos, to ones with sparkles, Celtic tattoos, henna tattoos, fairy tattoos, dragon tattoos and even sleeve and bracelet tattoos, you name it. Hey, they were for more wife! And she loves them. Of course, I like putting them on her - so take the opportunity, even if you don't want to get a permanent tattoo to get a temporary one that can add a little "spark" to your relationship as well.

Tattoo Aftercare - How to Take Care of New Tattoos

Before you get yourself a tattoo, you must be prepared to put in the effort to take care of it. The fact is, if you have any problems or complication such as infection on a fresh tattoo, the tattoo artist you've put your trust on is not going to be responsible for it you do not take any care for your new ink.

A well drawn, sharp and beautiful tattoo can quickly become a disaster if good tattoo aftercare is not given to it. There are some simple guidelines you can take to care for your tattoo. The artists who drawn the design will put in the initial care by covering up your new tattoo for good reason. The reason is to prevent any air born bacteria from invading your wound.

A new body ink is literally a wound on your skin even if it looks pretty. The open flesh is an ideal breeding ground for bacteria and for infection. You have to leave the bandage for a minimum time of up to two hours.

When you got your first ink, there will be some excitement and everybody will be asking you to remove the bandage so that you can show off your new tattoo. This is not a good idea though. It is best to ask your friends to be patient and wait for two hours before removing the bandage that came from the tattoo parlor.

There can be one exception for this restriction. If your artist covered your tattoo with saran wrap or with some kind of plastic, it is best to remove it immediately. Saran wrapper is not recommended because it restricts oxygen from reaching your new ink.

After removing the bandage, you must wash your new tattoo. Use lukewarm water together with a mild liquid antibacterial or with antimicrobial soap. The generic brand antibacterial soap is better for this purpose. Wash the wound gently to remove any ointment, plasma or dried blood and making sure the entire area is completely clean. When you've done washing, use a soft cotton towel and dab your new tattoo area dry.

Tattoo Care Tips - How to Keep Your New Tattoo Sharp and Vibrant

When you got your first tattoo, you may feel your ink a bit slimy and slippery and there may even be some oozing plasma. You have to remove the residue on your tattoo quickly or it will create scabs if the plasma dries on the skin surface.

Here are some new tattoo care tips for you. After you've been inked, you have to pat the area with a clean towel or with paper towel to dry it completely. Be careful not to rub on the area too hard. It is best to apply some ointment on the wound. The ointment which is enriched with A&D is a good choice.

If possible, avoid using Neosporin on your new tattoo. Neosporin is a wonderful cure for any cuts and scrapes but not for tattoos. Some people may even have an allergy reaction when using Neosporin. It can cause red bumps on the wound and after the red bumps go away, you will have a polka dotted tattoo.

If you are looking for a good tattoo ointment, use products which are specially created for body ink such as Tattoo Goo or h2ocean. It is best to use the product for a period of 3 to 5 days continuously. Alternatively, you can also use any lotion to keep your skin soft. Whatever lotion you use, it should be dye and fragrance free. Most of the tattoo artists will recommend Lubriderm.

When it is time to get your tattoo wet, start by running a cool stream or water over it. Submerging your new tattoo in a hot tub may sometime cause serious damage. You should avoid swimming for at least 2 weeks. After a couple of days, you should feel the scabs peeling. If you should see excessive scabbing, that is a sign your tattoo was poorly done. But if you feel a little scabbing, then it is normal.

If you feel itchy, do not pick or scratch on your new tattoo. If it is scabbing, let it be because it is almost healed. After your tattoo is healed, you have to protect it from the sun's rays. Excessive sun exposure will make your tattoo becomes fade and lifeless. To keep it sharp and vibrant, use a minimum of SPF50 sunscreen.

Skull Tattoo Designs - What Do They Mean and Why You Should Get One

When someone chooses a tattoo to look and feel tough, it is common for them to pick an image of a skull especially since there are a variety of different skull tattoo designs. On first thought, people usually associate skulls with death or fearlessness. People usually envision darkness around skulls, but that is not always the case. Depending on the designs, the image of the skull can actually be drawn in a way that it looks cartoonish or even cute. It is interesting to see how a skull can start off at the most negative spectrum and extend all the way to the delightful and magical spectrum based solely on color and the different skull tattoo designs. But nonetheless, the meaning still remains the same regardless of the image chosen.

In Christian art and culture, skulls symbolize eternity, repentance and human vanity. A skull with a serpent crawling through the eye sockets is understood as a representation of immortality as well as knowledge. But more importantly, the skull itself is seen as a sign of triumph. In times of battle, it is common for Lords to request the head of the person they wish to see dead. The reason for the decapitation of the head is to show solid proof that the person is in fact dead, and it also displays power and superiority while bringing fear to the public.

In ancient times, the skull symbolized great change rather than death or danger. In the present day, skulls have adapted the negative light because the greatest change a person can have in their lifetime is death. But do not let death or other negative resemblances scare you away from getting a skull tattoo as there is a more positive spin on the meaning. Skull tattoos can also be seen as a symbol for protection, strength, and power. Skulls can also be used to represent a time when you overcame a tragedy or obstacle which shows your strength and determination as a person. But above all, the image of a skull makes you look tough.

Tattoo For Beginners - 3 Things You Must Know Before You Get a Tattoo

So you finally convinced yourself that a tattoo is what you must get. If you are a true beginner, then you came to the right place. Before reading on, if you are an underage minor, you need parental consent and need to make sure that it is legal for you to get a tattoo at your age. Whether you like it or not, there are laws in certain states that prohibits children under a certain age to get a tattoo, usually restricting minors until the age of 18. If you qualify to be a tattoo recipient, then it is important to understand the following 3 guidelines.

1. Find a tattoo design that resembles you

This step is an absolute must. Whether you are getting a tattoo because of a special meaning or simply because you want one, make sure that you can picture yourself with that same tattoo 10 to 20 years in the future. If you start to dislike a tattoo a few years later, then it will just turn into an eyesore as well as a waste of money. There are ways to remove tattoos but it can be a costly procedure and the tattoo will only be faded slightly. It is important to be sure of the design and style you want. If the phrase "I do not know if I should get this" crosses your mind, then it is best to leave it aside and move on until you find the right design. If you do not love the design wholeheartedly, then chances are you will end up regretting the design in the future. Also, never let anyone pressure or convince you into choosing something you do not sincerely love.

2. Determine what part of the body you want the tattoo to be

The location of the tattoo is just as important as the design itself. You must figure out how visible you want the tattoo to be. Keep in mind that if the tattoo is visible, others will be able to view it and it may not be the best idea to have a tattoo showing in a professional environment such as a job. Some employers frown upon tattoos and ask for them to be hidden throughout the workday because it looks unprofessional in front of clients. A good trial and error method is to get a temporary tattoo in the area in which you want a real one and leave it there for a week or two. If there are no conflicts at your job and you still love the tattoo dearly, then you are that much closer to making your dream come true. Temporary tattoos are also a solution for unsure tattoo designs as well.

3. Find an experienced tattooist at a tattoo parlor

You have all seen or heard about those people who walked into tattoo parlor with a certain design in mind, and came out with something completely different. To avoid this nightmare, make sure you do thorough research on the tattooist's experience and the shop he is working at. It is critical to find someone who is talented and artistically skilled that is also capable of providing you the service you want. Not only is having the tattoo come out the way you want important, but so is your health. Spending a little more on a place you know is completely safe is better than paying half the price at a different location you think is safe. Make sure that the needles they use are brand new and opened in front of you while checking with the tattooist to make sure their equipment is sanitized. The last thing you want is to walk out with a tattoo and an infection the same day.

When it comes to getting a tattoo, it is vital for you to be certain on the design, the placement of the tattoo, and the tattooist providing the service. If any doubt ever crosses your mind, then you should reconsider if a tattoo is the right thing for you.
